Resolution No. 96781 2 �3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 9678 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 9639 BY AMENDING SCHEDULE NO. XIII OF SAID RESOLUTION, AMENDING SECTION 13a(5) AND ADDING SUB SECTION (2) TO SECTION 13b REGARDING THE COMPENSATION, COSTS AND BENEFITS OF ITS EMPLOYEES (AMENDMENT NO. 3) WHEREAS, on June 16, 2008, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted Resolution No. 9639 to be effective July 6, 2008 regarding the compensation, costs and benefits of its employees(the "Salary Resolution"); and WHEREAS, Schedule No. XIII, Exhibit M, of the Salary Resolution provides for the positions and salary scales of positions within the Light & Power Department; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to create the position of Business and Administrative Clerk in the Light & Power Department with the appropriate salary scale effective July 21, 2008; and WHEREAS, Schedule No. XVII, Exhibit Q, of the Salary Resolution provides for the positions and salary scales of positions within the Police Department; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to establish new salary scales for the positions of Police Officer and Sergeants in the Police Department; and WHEREAS, Section 13 of the Salary Resolution provides items relating to the Police Department; and WHEREAS, City staff desire to amend Section 13b of the Salary Resolution by adding subsection (2), to provide for a Communications 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 Training Officers pay differential of five percent (50) of their base salary to eligible employees within the Police Department; and WHEREAS, City staff desire to amend Section 13a(5) of the Salary Resolution regarding Field Training Officer Pay; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes to amend Schedule No. XIII (Exhibit M), Schedule No. XVII (Exhibit Q) and Section 13 of the Salary Resolution to implement the aforementioned changes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct. SECTION 2: Effective August 4, 2008, Schedule No. XIII, Exhibit M, of the Salary Resolution is hereby amended as indicated on Exhibit A, which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by this reference, to implement the creation of the Business and Administrative Clerk position in the Light & Power Department. SECTION 3: Effective September 1, 2008, Schedule No. XVII, Exhibit Q, of the Salary Resolution is hereby amended as indicated on Exhibit B, which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by this reference, to implement the establishment of new salary scales for the positions of Police Officer and Sergeants in the Police Department. SECTION 4: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby adds subsection (2) to Section 13b of the Salary Resolution to read as follows: (2) Communications Training Officers Pay. Dispatchers assigned by the Chief of Police, or his designee, - 2 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 as Communications Training Officers will receive a differential of five percent (5%) of their base salary for the period so assigned. Each Dispatcher assigned as a Communications Training Officer shall complete a P.O.S.T. approved Communications Training Officer course prior to assignment. The number of Dispatchers assigned as Communications Training Officers, qualifications and training for such assignment shall be determined by the Chief of Police. Such assignment may be revoked at any time without recourse to the disciplinary procedure. SECTION 5: The City Council of -the City of Vernon hereby amends Section 13a(5) of the Salary Resolution to read as follows: (5) Field Training Officer Pay (FTO). Police Officers assigned by the Chief of Police, or his designee, as Field Training Officer will receive a differential of five percent (5%) of their base salary for the period so assigned. Each Officer assigned as a Field Training Officer shall complete a P.O.S.T. approved Field Training Officer School prior to assignment. The number of Field Training Officers, qualifications, and training for such assignment shall be determined by the Chief of Police. Such assignment may be revoked at any time without recourse to the disciplinary procedure (Article 23). SECTION 6: The provisions of Resolution No. 9639, as amended by Resolution Nos. 9664 and 9672, not consistent with or in conflict with this resolution are hereby repealed; in all other respects, Resolution Nos. 9639, 9664 and 9672, shall remain in full force and effect.
