RESOLUTION NO. 9838
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPOINTING THE CITY'S REPRESENTATIVE AND
ALTERNATE REPRESENTATIVES ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE GATEWAY CITIES COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS
WHEREAS, on April 22, 1997, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 6941 entering into a Joint Exercise of
Powers Agreement approving participation in the Gateway Cities Council
of Governments ("Gateway") for the purpose of engaging in regional and
cooperative planning and coordination of government services and
responsibilities to assist its members in the conduct of their affairs
for the collective benefit of cities in the Southeast Los Angeles
County area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
appoint a representative and alternate representatives to represent the
City on the Board of Directors of Gateway.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
appoints William Davis, a member of the City Council, to serve as the
City's representative on the Board of Directors of Gateway and hereby
appoints Hilario Gonzales and William M. McCormick, members of the
City Council, to serve as the City's alternate representatives on the
Board of Directors of Gateway. Such appointments shall be effective
1 until the death, resignation, disqualification or subsequent removal
2 by the City Council of such representatives.
3 SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
4 directs the City Clerk, or her designee, to send a copy of this
5 Resolution to the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Gateway
6 Cities Council of Governments.
7 SECTION 4: Any resolution or parts of a resolution or
8 minute orders in conflict with this Resolution are hereby repealed.
9 SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
10 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
11 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
12 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of February, 2009.
