RESOLUTION NO. 9843
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPOINTING THE CITY'S MEMBER AND ALTERNATE
MEMBER TO THE.BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTHEAST
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BOARD OF
DIRECTORS
WHEREAS, on May 17, 1994, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 6438 approved the creation of the
Southeast Community Development Corporation ("SCDC") with the Cities
of Bell, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Maywood, and
South Gate to promote activities relating to business attraction,
business retention, job training, job creation and various social
programs; and
WHEREAS, on October 21, 1997, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 7035 appointing William Davis as an
Alternate Member of the SCDC Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, on November 3, 1998, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 7231 ratifying the appointment of Martha
Valenzuela as an additional Alternate Member of the SCDC Board of
Directors; and
WHEREAS, on May 4, 1999, the City Council of the City of
Vernon adopted Resolution No. 7325 nominating Anthony Saldana of GNB
Technologies as the City's business community representative on the
SCDC Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
appoint a new Member and Alternate Member to represent the City on the
SCDC Board of Directors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
appoints Hilario Gonzales, a member of the City Council, to serve as
the City's Member on the SCDC Board of Directors and hereby appoints
William M. McCormick, a member of the City Council, to serve as the
City's Alternate Member on the SCDC Board of Directors. Such
appointments shall be effective until the death, resignation,
disqualification or subsequent removal by the City Council of such
representatives.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
directs the City Clerk, or her designee, to send a copy of this
Resolution to the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Southeast
Community Development Corporation.
SECTION 4: Any resolution or parts of a resolution in
conflict with this Resolution, specifically Resolution Nos. 6438, 7035
and 7231, are hereby repealed.

1 SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
2 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
3 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
