RESOLUTION NO. 9874
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, CALIFORNIA AMENDING THE BALLOT QUESTION
RELATING TO WHETHER AN AMENDMENT TO THE CITY
CHARTER OF THE CITY OF VERNON SHOULD BE ADOPTED AT
THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
JUNE 2, 2009
WHEREAS, on February 23, 2009, the City Council of the City
of Vernon ordered that a Special Municipal Election shall be held on
June 2, 2009, for the submission to the voters of a question relating
to whether an amendment to the City Charter entitled "City Council,
Elections and Terms of Office" shall be adopted; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend Section 2 of the
Resolution adopted on February 23, 2009 pertaining to the question
that will be submitted to voters at the Special Municipal Election to
be held on June 2, 2009.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council, pursuant to its right and
authority, does order submitted to the voters at the Special Municipal
Election the following question:
Proposition A
Shall the City Charter be amended to provide for
regular municipal Elections each April and for
staggered terms of office for members of the City

Council, one of whom shall be elected each year to
a f ive year term; with the current terms of two
No
council seats to be extended one year, and the
current terms of two council seats to be extended
two yearsf to fully effect the staggered
elections?

SECTION 2: All other details pertaining to the Special
Municipal Election to be held on June 2, 2009 shall be those set forth
in the Resolution adopted by the City Council of the City of Vernon on
February 23, 2009.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
