VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF
4 CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER N0. 1 TO SERVICES AGREEMENT
5 BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF VERNON AND CALIFORNIA
TRAFFIC MAINTENANCE, INC. FOR. STREET LANE .LINE
6 STRIPING

8 WHEREAS, on May 19, 2008, the City Council of the City of
9 Vernon adopted Resolution No. 9615 approving a Services Agreement (the
10 "Agreement") with California Traffic Maintenance, Inc. ("CTM") to
11 perform Citywide Street Lane Line Striping services; a,nd
12 WHEREAS, by memo dated April 30, 200.9, the Director of
13 Community Services & Water desires. to extend the Agreement with CTM
14 for an additional year through May 19, 2010, under tie same terms and
15 conditions of the Agreement for .the same total contract amount. of
16 $33,060.00; and
17 .WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
18 determined that, pursuant to the provisions of subsection'(a) of
19 Section 2.27 of the Vernon City Code, it is in the public interest and
20 necessity to enter a Change Order No. 1 to the Agreement with CTM.
21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CLTY COUNCIL OF THE
22 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
23 SECTION 1: .The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
24 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
25 and correct.
26 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
27 approves the Contract Change Order No. 1 to the Agreement with CTM, a
28 copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated by
1 reference..
2 SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
3 authorizes the Director of Community Services & Water to execute said
4 Change Order No. 1 for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon and the
5 City Clerk, or Deputy City Clerk, is hereby authorized to attest
6 thereto.
7 SECTION 4: The City Council of the .City of Vernon hereby
8 directs the City Clerk, or her designee, to send a fully executed
9 Change Order No. 1 to:

Extension of Contract
Every year, the street lane lines in the City are re-striped using a special paint with glass
beads to ensure visible lane lines for the safety of the vehicular traffic in the City. The work is
completed at night to ensure that there is little impact on business or traffic in the City.
Approximately 450,000 lineal feet of various types of lane lines are painted under a services
contract.
The City Council, on May 19 2008, approved a services agreement by .Resolution No.
9615 for California Traffic Maintenance, Inc. to complete a citywide street lane line striping
program. The project was completed in 2008 in awell-coordinated and efficient effort by the
contractor. The project was completed on time and-below the budgeted amount. The contractor
personnel and equipment performed the work precisely and cooperatively.
The contract awarded. to California Traffic Maintenance, Inc. can be extended by change
order upon the mutual agreement of terms of the extension. California Traffic Maintenance, Inc.
has proposed that the same contract terms agreed upon in 2008 be used and the contract
extended. The unit costs for the striping will be the same as the 2008 contract and the total
contract cost will not exceed $33,060.00.
Recommendation: It is recommended that a change order be approved extending the existing
contract of California Traffic Maintenance, Inc. for one year at a cost not to exceed $33,060.00.
