Resolution No. 09982 1 RESOLUTION NO. 9982 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RECITING THE FACT OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL 4 ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 2, 2009, DECLARING THE RESULT AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW 5. 6 WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election was held and .conducted 7 in the-City of Vernon, California, on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, as g required by law; and g WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 9870, as amended, the 10 election was conducted entirely by vote-by-mail ballot pursuant to 11 Section 4000, et seq., of the Elections Code of the. Nelly Giron, City Clerk RE: Special Municipal Election Result The all mail Special Municipal Election of the City was held and conducted on Tuesday, June 2, 2009.. The special Municipal Election was held for the purpose of submitting to the voters of the City the following measure: Measure A Shall the City Charter be amended to provide for regular municipal Elections each April and for staggered terms of office for members of the Yes City Council, one of whom shall be elected each -:year to a five year term; with the current terms- of two council seats to be extended one year, and the current terms of two council seats to be No extended two years, to fully effect the staggered elections? There were 68 ballots mailed out and one Provisional Ballot was issued. Forty six (46) mail ballots and the one (1) Provisional were received and sent to the County Registrar for signature verifications. Four (4) ballots and the one (1) Provisional Ballot were challenged and not counted. A total of forty-two (42) ballots were processed.
