A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON DESIGNATING DECEMBER 24, 2009 AND
DECEMBER 31, 2009 AS CITY HOLIDAYS AND DIRECTING
CLOSURE OF THE PUBLIC OFFICES OF THE CITY OF
VERNON ON THESE DAYS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon ("City
Council") adopted Resolution No. 9542 on February 4, 2008, which in
part established holidays for the City of Vernon ("City") and
directed closure of the public offices of the City on those days
("City Holidays"); and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 9542, the City Council
may designate additional holidays as City Holidays; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to designate Thursday,
December 24, 2009, and Thursday, December 31, 2009 as City Holidays.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council does hereby find and
determine that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and
correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council hereby designates Thursday,
December 24, 2009, and Thursday, December 31, 2009, as holidays for
the City and directs that the public offices of the City shall be
closed on these days.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the City Administrator, or his designee, to take whatever
actions are deemed necessary or desirable for the purpose of
implementing and carrying out the purposes of this Resolution.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage, approval and adoption of this resolution,
and the City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall cause this resolution
and the City Clerk's certification to be entered in the File of
Resolutions of the Council of this City.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of December, 2009.

Per our discussion at the last informational session held on November 30, 2009, 1 am
submitting a formal request to grant additional days off (December 24, 2009 and
December 31, 2009) with holiday pay in observance of the Christmas and New Year's
holidays.
RE.C..OM.MENDATION:
It is recommended that City Council approve the attached Resolution granting additional
days off (December 24, 2009 and December 31, 2009) in observance of the Christmas
and New Year's holidays.
