A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO RENDER
SPECIFIED SERVICES TO THE CITY RELATING TO THE
CONDUCT OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD
ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 31, 2010
WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election is to be held in the
City of Vernon (the "City"), California, on August 31, 2010; and
WHEREAS, in the course of conduct of the election it is
necessary for the City to request services of the. County of Los
Angeles; and
WHEREAS, all necessary expenses in performing these services
shall be paid by the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Pursuant to the provisions of Section 10002 of
the Elections Code of the State of California, this City Council
requests the Board of Supervisors of the County to permit.the County
Election.Department to prepare and furnish the following for use in
conducting the election:
1. The computer record of the names and addresses of
all eligible registered voters in the City in order that the City may:
a. Produce labels for vote -by -mail voters;
\ b. Produce labels for sample ballot pamphlets;
C. Print Rosters of Voters and Street Indexes;
2. Voter signature verification services as'needed;
3. Make available to the City election equipment and
assistance as needed according to state law.
SECTION 2: The City shall reimburse the County for services
performed when the work is completed and upon presentation to the City'
of a properly approved bill.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the City Administrator, or his designee, to take whatever
actions are deemed necessary or desirable for the purpose of
implementing and carrying out the purposes of this Resolution and the
actions herein approved or authorized.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk is directed to forward without
delay to the Board of Supervisors and to the County Election
Department, each a certified copy of this resolution at the following

Resolutions of the Council of this City.

CHARGES FOR SUPPORT ELECTIONS
Election Initiation and Preparation
Represents costs for initiating the election process for the specific election, assigning
job numbers to jurisdictions, preparation and distribution of election calendar pages,
data entry and updating of the specific election processing system.
Ballot Material Processing
This charge is for the salaries expended to prepare and proofread ballot material.
Transmission of Voter Files
Represents costs for production and transmission of voter files to Martin and Chapman
for the purpose of preparing the Street Indexes and Rosters.
Issuing and Receiving Voting Equipment
Represents costs associated with the preparation, issuance and receipt of voting
equipment to cities, or vendors representing cities, for the purpose of conducting special
elections.
Supply Processing
Represents costs for inspecting election materials (supply tubs/ballot boxes) post
election to ensure no damages, missing components, etc.
Precinct Consolidation Verification
Represents costs associated with identifying and consolidating precincts and verifying
precinct and district boundaries for the specific election.
Signature Verification
Represents costs for searching files to verify submitted names are registered voters.
Supplies Loaned But Not Returned
Represents replacement costs for missing and/or damaged equipment and supplies that
were loaned to cities or vendors representing cities.
