Resolution No. 2011-024RESOLUTION NO. 2011-24 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY FROM THE COMMUNITY SERVICES & WATER DEPARTMENT, FIRE DEPARTMENT, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT, LIGHT & POWER DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DEPARTMENT PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.31 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE WHEREAS, pursuant to Vernon City Code Section 2.31, the City of Vernon may sell surplus property; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon 'desires to declare the property from the following departments to be surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items have been damaged, have become obsolete, or are in poor condition and are therefore no longer useful to the needs of the City: 1. Community Services & Water Department, more particularly described on Exhibit A which is attached hereto; 2. Fire Department, more particularly described on Exhibit B which is attached hereto; 3. Information Technology Department, more particularly described on Exhibit C which is attached hereto; 4. Light & Power Department, more particularly described on Exhibit D which is attached hereto; 5. Police Department, more particularly described on Exhibit E which is attached hereto; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon that the property described in the above -referenced Exhibits be sold as surplus property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: <SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct. SECTION 2: in accordance with Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code, the City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determinesthat the property described in the attached Exhibits A, B, C, D and E is surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon. SECTION 3: The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to contract with an auction company, to obtain bids or to make other arrangements for the sale of the property described in said Exhibits as surplus property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code. SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage, approval and adoption of this Resolution, and the City Clerk of the City"of Vernon shall cause this Resolution and ,the City Clerk's certification to be entered in the File of Resolutions of the Council of this City.
