A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON CALLING FOR THE MEASURE TO AMEND THE CITY
CHARTER TO INCLUDE TERM LIMITS FOR CITY COUNCIL
MEMBERS BE SUBMITTED TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY AT
A MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 2011
WHEREAS, on May 26, 2011, the City Council approved
Resolution No. 2011-86, calling an election on a date to be set
pursuant to state law, to submit to the voters a measure setting term
limits for City Council members; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that a Tuesday,
November 8, 2011 election date is in accordance with state law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: ELECTION.
Pursuant to its right, power, and authority under the laws of
the State of California and the Vernon City Charter, the City Council
hereby calls a municipal election to be held on the ballot measure
described in section 2 of Resolution No. 201.1-86, on Tuesday, November
8, 2011 in accordance with state law.
SECTION 2: POLLING PLACE.
The City Hall is hereby designated as the polling place for
the election set herein. The polls for the election shall be open at
7:00 a.m. of the day of the election and shall remain open continuously
from that time until 8:00 p.m. of the same day when the polls shall be
closed except as provided by law in Section 14401 of the Elections Code
of the State of California.
SECTION 3: NOTICE.
Notice of the time and place of holding the election is
hereby given and the City Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed
to give further or additional notice of the election in time, form, and
manner as required by law.
SECTION 4: CERTIFICATION OF PASSAGE.
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the
passage, approval and adoption of this resolution, and the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon shall cause this resolution and the City Clerk's
certification to be entered in the File of Resolutions of the Council
of this City.

RE` Term Limit Charter Amendment Election Date
On May 26, 2011, the City Council of the City of Vernon enacted Resolution No. 2011-86,
calling a municipal election on whether to set term limits for City Council members. The
resolution calls for the ballot measure to be presented to the voters of the city on a date to be
determined in accordance with,state law.
The next available municipal election date pursuant to state law is Tuesday; November 8, 2011. - In the interest of presenting the ballot measure to the voters as soon- as possible, it is
recommended that the municipal election called for in Resolution No. 2011-86, be held on
Tuesday, November 8, 2011.
