Resolution No. 2012-008RESOLUTION NO. 2012-08 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROVING AND ACCEPTING THE QUITCLAIM DEED DEDICATING IN FEE A PORTION OF THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 3030 ATLANTIC BOULEVARD WHEREAS, International Paper Company ("International") has offered to dedicate in fee a portion of the real property in the City commonly known as 3030 Atlantic Boulevard, City of Vernon, approximately 3,612.91 square feet in size, located on the east side corner of Atlantic Boulevard, north of District Boulevard (the "Property"); and WHEREAS, International has delivered to the City a quitclaim deed dated November 14, 2011, dedicating in fee the Property to the City, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A ("Quitclaim Deed"); and WHEREAS, the dedication will meet the City of Vernon's Master Plan of Streets and will be used for street purposes by increasing the width of the street right-of-way; and WHEREAS, by memo dated December 5, 2011, the Director of Community Services and Water has recommended that the City accept the Quitclaim Deed and approve execution of the Certificate of Acceptance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct. SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby accepts the interests in real property conveyed to the City of Vernon by the Quitclaim Deed, approves the Quitclaim Deed and consents to the recordation of the Quitclaim Deed. SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby authorizes the Mayor or Mayor Pro-Tem to execute the Certificate of Acceptance accepting the Quitclaim Deed for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon and the City Clerk, or Deputy City Clerk, is hereby authorized to attest thereto. SECTION 4: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby instructs the City Administrator, or his designee, to take whatever actions are deemed necessary or desirable for the purpose of implementing and carrying out the purposes of this Resolution and the actions herein approved or authorized. SECTION 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby authorizes the Director of Community Services & Water, or his designee, to submit the Quitclaim Deed to the County Recorder. SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage, approval and adoption of this resolution, and the City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall cause this resolution and the City Clerk's certification to be entered in the File of Resolutions of the Council of this City.
