A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND ADOPTING A SUSTAINABILITY
ACTION PLAN FOR THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND
ENERGY EFFICIENCY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF VERNON
WHEREAS, on April 25, 2012, the Sustainable Development and
Energy Efficiency Commission of the City of Vernon ("SDEEC") approved
a Sustainability Action Plan (the "SAP"); and
WHEREAS, the Secretary of the SDEEC submitted the SAP to the
City Council of the City of Vernon pursuant to Article XIX, Section
2.149, Powers and Duties, of the Vernon City Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires to
approve and adopt the SAP submitted by the SDEEC.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
approves and adopts the Sustainability Action Plan submitted by the
SDEEC, a copy which is attached hereto as Exhibit A.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage, approval and adoption of this resolution, and
the City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall cause this resolution and
the City Clerk's certification to be entered in the File of Resolutions
of the Council of this City.

RE: Resolution Adopting the Sustainability Development and Energy
Efficiency Commission (SDEEC) Proposed "Sustainability Action
Plan"
On Wednesday April 25, 2012, the SDEEC approved the proposed Sustainabifity Action
Plan (SAP) by a vote of 4-0.
Backgroun
The SAP will guide the city in developing and maintaining its sustainability
infrastructure, including:
• Outline goals for the City's sustainability infrastructure
• Describe the regulatory framework and industry standard -setting bodies that will
govern the City's infrastructure
• Identify the specific areas in which the City can become more sustainable and
energy efficient
• Identify types of "green" businesses the City should attract
Electronic copies of the SAP will be available in PDF format for free on the web page
after approval by the City Council. Printed copies will also be available for order at our
cost of the printing charges (approx. $25.00 each)
Recommendation:
It is my recommendation that the SAP be reviewed and adopted by the City Council.
