Background The Civil Defense Department is requesting continuation of maintenance coverage for Fire, Community Services and Water, and Police Departments' radio communication equipment, closed circuit television equipment and electronic ID card access equipment. Advanced Electronics has been our maintenance provider for many years due to their expertise and experience in working with our equipment. Recommendation The departments rely on this equipment to communicate and to provide security so maintenance is vital. Advanced Electronics is keeping the unit pricing the same as the last two previous years. Total cost for this fiscal year is $22,462.92 Cost varies as each department adds and removes equipment on the listing. The agreement is for 3 years. The Chief Deputy City Attorney has reviewed and approved the service agreement as to form. Therefore Purchasing is recommending that this service be included on the agenda for the Council Meeting scheduled for September 18th, 2012. Fiscal Impact The Civil Defense Department has appropriated funds to cover this expenditure in this fiscal year 2012/2013.
