Resolution No. 2012-244RESOLUTION NO. 2012-244 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON ACCEPTING THE BID OF COMPLETE THERMAL SERVICES, INC. FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF CITY HALL CHILLER UNIT IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. CS-0338 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF SAID CONTRACT WHEREAS, Contract No. CS-0338 of the City of Vernon was approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon pursuant to Resolution No. 2012-214; and WHEREAS, on December 5, 2012 sealed bids were opened pursuant to said Resolution; and WHEREAS, the City received seven bids in response to the notice inviting sealed, competitive bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were referred to Samuel Kevin Wilson, Director of Community Services & Water, who recommends to the City Council in a memo dated December 6, 2012, that Contract No. CS-0338 for the replacement of city hall chiller unit, be awarded to Complete Thermal Services, Inc. on the basis of its bid in the amount of Seventy -Five Thousand Two Hundred Fifty -Five Dollars and No Cents ($75,255.00), being the lowest responsible bid. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct. SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon does hereby award Contract No. CS-0338 to Complete Thermal Services, Inc. in accordance with the recommendation of Samuel Kevin Wilson, Director of Community Services & Water, and authorizes the Mayor or Mayor Pro- � Tem to execute the Contract for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon and the Interim City Clerk is hereby authorized to attest thereto. However since this was an unanticipated breakdown, no funds were budgeted for this work. The existing chiller unit was installed. in 1985 (23 years ago) and estimated repair cost is $35,675. It does not meet current energy efficiency rating and R22 refrigerant for the chiller unit is scheduled to be phased out and will not be continued. Therefore; the staff decided to replace the chiller unit in lieu of repair.
