Approve and adopt the attached Amendment No. 1 to Resolution No. 2013-57 to amend Section 15: City Council Department, Subsection 2a — Coverage After Retirement, to state: "City Council members are entitled to the same retiree medical benefits offered to all full-time regular employees as identified under any citywide resolution for retiree medical benefits in effect at the time Council members retire." Background On January 8, 2013, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2013-06, approving the continued payment of premiums for medical -dental insurance for retired employees and granting specific retiree medical benefits to employees who retire during fiscal year 2012/2013 only. The retiree medical program for those employees retiring before or after fiscal year 2012/2013 remained the same as identified in Resolution No. 2011-107. The citywide retiree medical programs are currently offered to City Council members who are also entitled to the same medical, dental and vision benefits covered by the City's insurance programs for all full-time, active employees. This staff report recommends a clean-up of citywide Personnel and Salary Resolution No. 2013- 57, Section 15, Subsection 2a — City Council Benefits - Coverage After Retirement. To ensure appropriate and consistent application of the City Council members' retiree medical benefits, Section 15, Subsection 2a — City Council Benefits - Coverage After Retirement should state: City Council members are entitled to the same retiree medical benefits offered to all full-time regular employees as identified under any citywide resolution for retiree medical benefits in effect at the time Council members retire.
